Hayekar

Hayekar is a Confederate heartland world and the location of Adamant, its capital. From orbit it appears pale buff beneath cloud, with two small moons and sunlight scattering into amber bands along the terminator. Breaks in the cloud reveal dry country divided into long worked stretches, with water catching the light between them.

Approaches and settlement

The Ridgeline station and the approach corridor manage traffic arriving at the world. Near Reach is a civilian dock facility used by a mixture of civilian and military vessels. The distinction between those kinds of traffic is not always clear in a polity that relies on varied ships and operators.

Adamant spreads across a broad valley. Its older buildings use local stone and lumber; newer construction rises somewhat higher but still follows the shape of the basin. Worked land and homesteads continue beyond the civic center.

A political and memorial center

The Congress of Member Worlds meets in Adamant. Fields of black memorial stones also form part of the city’s inhabited surroundings. The concentration of institutions and memory gives Hayekar significance beyond its own population.

The world’s founding inheritance emphasizes independence, property, personal responsibility, and voluntary association. Hosting a coalition’s institutions gives those values a demanding setting: local self-government has to coexist with obligations shared among worlds. Hayekari culture explores that inheritance and its variety.
