Occupied world
Clonmel
An occupied world where checkpoints, asylum traffic, and borrowed identities shape every crossing.

Clonmel is the occupied world on which Geometry of Grace opens. Captain Kaid Sidorov and his crew arrive to extract the scientist Tavanda Ruun. Their approach depends on appearing to belong to the traffic already moving through the occupation.
Movement under occupation
The crew enters with an asylum caravan. Crowds provide cover, but passage still depends on checkpoints and the systems used to inspect people. Temporary identities must survive both human attention and machine verification.
This makes Clonmel’s occupation a problem of movement as well as force. The way a traveler is classified affects where that traveler can go. For the crew, the work begins before they reach their contact: they must make their presence ordinary enough to pass.
The mission’s setting
The Rebel Ascendant supports the same deception from orbit and on approach. Her battered transport appearance is designed to attract little interest. Ship and crew both operate behind prepared identities.
The Clonmel extraction article follows the mission separately, with its outcome available in the Book 1 reading view.
