Kaid Sidorov commands the [CSS Rebel Ascendant](https://emissary.mdscur.com/encyclopedia/rebel-ascendant/) at the opening of *Geometry of Grace*. His crew conducts deniable work under Confederate sanction, using prepared identities, disguise, and rapid decisions to move through dangerous places.

## Command and movement

Kaid thinks in routes, risk, and the next person who has to move. His authority becomes practical in the way he directs a small team: a plan has to survive contact with an inspection, a handoff, or an unexpected threat.
